Submission Guidelines

Submissions are OPEN!

Metafore is a literary magazine that accepts poetry, fiction, & creative nonfiction submissions. We only accept previously unpublished work. By submitting to Metafore, the author grants us first publishing rights & non-exclusive electronic permissions (for online archival purposes). Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please alert your genre editor via email if a piece is accepted elsewhere. While a cover letter isn’t necessary, we do require a third-person, 50-word bio & a professional photo will be requested upon acceptance. Estimated response time is 4 weeks, though you'll likely hear back sooner. 

Please submit in ONE category per submission.

Poetry

Submit up to one poem in .docx format. Work should be in Times New Roman, 12pt font, one page long, single-spaced. 

Fiction and Creative Nonfiction

Submit up to one piece at a time, with a maximum of 2,500 words per piece in .docx format. Work should be in Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced. Include word count in the upper right-hand corner of the first page.

Submit up to one piece at a time, with a maximum of 1,000 words per piece in .docx format. Work should be in Times New Roman, 12pt font, double-spaced. Include word count in the upper right-hand corner of the first page.
